ELIGIBILITY AND NOMINATION PROCEDURES:

The Frida Kahlo Award

First established in 2006 to recognize a chapter’s outstanding website, it was updated in 2022 to recognize yearly an active chapter for its outstanding submission as accepted by the Executive Committee for inclusion in Sigma Delta Pi’s Museo Virtual Ruth H. Barnes. Submissions must appropriately reflect historical aspects of Sigma Delta Pi at either the local chapter or national levels.  Items in digital format may include:

  • Staged Photos (may include works of Sigma Delta Pi-related art: drawings, paintings, etc.). All photos must include a brief caption (50 words or less) with chapter name and description; for photos of events (initiation ceremonies will not be considered): also include date(s). Photos of poor quality or inadequate resolution cannot be considered.
  • Short Videos
  • Poems
  • Music (audio files)
  • Other (this list is not exhaustive as we expect creative chapters may have unique, relevant ideas for exhibits)

The chapter awardee will be chosen based on:

  • originality
  • historical significance
  • quality of submission (content and esthetics)
  • selection for inclusion in the Museo Virtual

Only one submission per year may be selected and announced in May of each year, and the awardee must represent an active chapter that has submitted the item for consideration.  The winning chapter will receive an award plaque and a $100 credit to be used toward future purchases through the national office. All submissions must be sent by April 1 of each year to sdpnational@gmail.com. After April 1, submissions would be considered for the following calendar year’s award.
