Sigma Delta Pi’s First SHLE Study Abroad Award Winner: Mr. David Andrew Lynch of North Central Texas College

Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society,

is pleased to announce that Mr. David Andrew Lynch of the North Central Texas College Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria de la Lengua Española (SHLE) is our inaugural Juan Manuel Sampere Scholarship winner for the SHLE Undergraduate Study Abroad Award Program. Mr. Lynch will spend four weeks studying abroad in Costa Rica in July 2019 with Estudio Sampere

Sigma Delta Pi: Graduate Research Grant Program, 2019: March 1 Application Deadline

Sigma Delta Pi, National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society

is pleased to announce its graduate research grant program for the summer of 2019 and the 2019-20 academic year. An eligible graduate student who is an active member of Sigma Delta Pi may apply for one grant of up to $2000 to support travel ABROAD to Spain or Spanish America for the sole purpose of research related to Hispanic Studies.  No more than five total grants may be awarded in 2019 based upon the quality and depth of the pool of applications. Application deadline: March 1, 2019.

In addition to Sigma Delta Pi’s centennial (1919-2019),
the spring 2019 issue of Entre Nosotros represents the 80th year of its publication (1939-2019). We encourage our chapters and members to submit their news (in Spanish) and photos for possible inclusion by February 8, 2019.  Please collaborate in this historic issue of our annual.

A special “Felicidades” section of Entre Nosotros will feature reflections/tributes from our Sigma Delta Pi chapter advisers, who are invited to submit their warm wishes for the 100th birthday of the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society.

Sigma Delta Pi and SHH’s Joint Chapter Grant Program: Applications Accepted on Rolling Basis

Sigma Delta Pi and the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese announce chapter grant program.  A Sigma Delta Pi chapter and a SHH chapter, both of active status, may apply for a joint grant of up to $300 to support a collaborative project that complements the missions of Sigma Delta Pi and the SHH .  This grant program aims to promote collaboration between chapters of Sigma Delta Pi and the SHH to help raise the visibility of Spanish honor societies in our communities and to incentivize high school honor society members to continue their Spanish education at the collegiate level.

Deadline for applications: Accepted all year-round on a rolling basis.
