Professor Martha Davis

Professor Martha Davis, Faculty Adviser of Sigma Delta Pi’s Sociedad Honoraria de la Lengua Española chapter at Northern Virginia Community College, was awarded the 2022 Marshall Brannon Excellence in Teaching Award by the Foreign Language Association of Virginia (FLAVA); she was also named 2022 Virginia Post-Secondary World Languages Teacher of the Year. In March 2023 she will represent FLAVA at the SCOLT Conference in Mobile, AL where she will be considered for the regional teacher of the year award.

Dr. Adam L. Winkel, Nu Mu Chapter Adviser at High Point University, had his article “No Limits: The Control of Urban Space in Surcos/Furrows (Nieves Conde, 1951) and Los golfos/The Delinquents (Saura, 1959)” published in 2022 in Studies in Spanish & Latin American Cinemas.

Chapter Adviser Professional Accomplishments: Dr. Linda M. Willem, Delta Upsilon Chapter Adviser at Butler University

Dr. Linda M. Willem, Delta Upsilon Chapter Adviser at Butler University, had her book Adapting Spanish Classics for the New Millennium: The Nineteenth-Century Novel Remediated published with Palgrave Macmillan in 2022. Also in 2022, she received the Galdosiana de Honor, awarded by the Casa-Museo Pérez Galdós and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.

Chapter Adviser Professional Accomplishments: Dr. Andrew Millacci, Pi Chi Chapter Adviser at Liberty University

In spring 2022, Dr. Andrew Millacci, Pi Chi Chapter Adviser at Liberty University, serves a Fulbright Scholar grant to Brazil where he taught at the Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana; he also conducted research on representations of the Brazilian bandit Lampião in the “literatura de cordel” poetry of the Northeast region.
