At any time, chapters may submit pictures of their signed charters (the document/canvas your chapter was issued when founded) for inclusion in the Museo Virtual.  If your chapter has a charter that was issued prior to the year 2000 that you would like to contribute to the gallery, please upload a high-resolution photo (gif or jpg file) in the following shared folder:

Charter Challenge, Call for Chapter Contributions: April 1 Deadline

Sigma Delta Pi’s Charter Challenge

To celebrate Sigma Delta Pi Day on May 1 at 5:00pm (click here for free registration and to confirm your virtual attendance), the Executive Committee will host a virtual inauguration and preliminary tour of the National Collegiate Hispanic Society’s latest project:  El Museo Virtual de Sigma Delta Pi.

Several virtual halls will be included with this project to include an “Artifacts Gallery.”  We would like to include photos of chapter charters signed by every past Sigma Delta Pi president.  If your chapter has a charter that was issued prior to the year 2000 that you would like to contribute to the gallery, please send a photo (gif or jpg file) of the charter to sdpnational@gmail.com.

Additionally we welcome any other contributions for our “Artifacts Gallery” that may have been passed down to our advisers.  If you have copies of old certificates, paper order forms or correspondence, please consider sending photos of the items for consideration to sdpnational@gmail.com.

Whether you attended or missed yesterday afternoon’s 2nd annual Sigma Delta Pi Day virtual event to commemorate the first formal induction of members on May 1, 1920,

Yesterday’s event highlighted the history of the Orden de Don Quijote, one of the Society’s highest honors, and culminated with the virtual induction into this Order of Drs. Joan L. Brown (U of Delaware) and Michael Scott Doyle (University of North Carolina at Charlotte) for their outstanding contributions to Hispanism.

Earle Hamilton’s 1995 Sigma Delta Pi: A Brief History, 1919-1994 (218 pp) and LaPrade and Del Mastro’s2005 Recounting a Decade, 1995-2004 (37 pp) will be included with each signed copy of Del Mastro’s 2020 book when purchased through Sigma Delta Pi’s national website (click here).  A great gift for graduating members!
