To commemorate the anniversary of the Society’s first formal induction ceremony on Saturday, May 1, 1920 at founding member Miriam Burt’s home on 1629 Walnut Street in Berkeley, CA, chapters are encouraged to recognize our 2nd annual “Día de Sigma Delta Pi” with events that might include the remote induction of new members, among other activities.

At the national level, Sigma Delta Pi invites all members and friends to a special commemoration of Sigma Delta Pi Day on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 5:00pm EDST via Zoom:

This year’s event will highlight the history of our prestigious Orden de Don Quijote with a short reading from the 2020 book Sigma Delta Pi: Rediscovering a Century, 1919-2019 (https://linguatextbooks.com/collections/juan-de-la-cuesta-hispanic-monographs/products/sigma-delta-pi-rediscovering-a-century-1919-2019),
followed by a rare initiation into this Order of two highly accomplished Hispanists.
