Sigma Delta Pi’s 240-page history has just been published by Juan de la Cuesta Hispanic Monographs and is now available at Amazon (click here for purchase). Signed copies by the author are also available for purchase at Sigma Delta Pi’s national website (click here).

At 7:30pm (EDST) on Friday, May 1, via Facebook Live (click here to RSVP) the author will read select passages from his book and answer questions from members about the Society’s 100-year history.   Sigma Delta Pi’s members and friends are invited.

To commemorate the anniversary of the Society’s first formal induction ceremony on Saturday, May 1, 1920 at founding member Miriam Burt’s home on 1629 Walnut Street in Berkeley, CA, chapters are encouraged to recognize our first national “Día de Sigma Delta Pi” with virtual events that might include the remote induction of new members, among other activities. 

At the national level, Sigma Delta Pi will conduct two (2) activities on May 1, 2020:

1) Facebook Live Reading (click link to register) of Sigma Delta Pi’s forthcoming history (details below) at 7:30pm EDT.

2) “Sigma Delta Pi Impact” videos selected from graduating members (details below)

Book

1) Sigma Delta Pi’s 239-page history is now under final production with Juan de la Cuesta Hispanic Monographs and will be available this summer. At 7:30pm on Friday, May 1, via Facebook Live the author will read select passages from his book and answer questions from members about the Society’s 100-year history.  All members and friends of Sigma Delta Pi are invited to join us for this special reading and Q&A event.

2) “Sigma Delta Pi Impact” videos: graduating members of Sigma Delta Pi are invited to create a short video in Spanish that reflects on the impact Sigma Delta Pi has had on their student experiences and what being a member of Sigma Delta Pi has meant.  To be considered for posting to the national Facebook page:

a) video should be of one or more graduating members of Sigma Delta Pi;
b) video should be in Spanish and 3-4 minutes in length;
c) presenter should mention Sigma Delta Pi Day (May 1), when they were initiated, and the importance of the centennial celebration that began January 1, 2019 and will conclude July 31, 2020;
d) video should be sent by Friday, April 24 to sdpnational@gmail.com as a link to a video uploaded on YouTube. No video attachments please.
