Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, and the Asociación Internacional de Hispanistas (AIH) are pleased to announce that Andrea Carrillo of Indiana University-Bloomington is the recipient of their Ana María Matute Award, which may be granted each triennium to one graduate student of Spanish/Hispanic Studies who is a member of Sigma Delta Pi and who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in coursework completed and exemplary involvement in extra-curricular activities related to Spanish/Hispanic Studies. Ms. Carrillo will be recognized formally at the 104th Annual Conference of the AATSP in San Juan, Puerto Rico, during Sigma Delta Pi’s Triennial Convention at the Caribe Hilton on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 2:00pm. Congratulations to Andrea for this exceptional honor.

Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, and the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) are pleased to announce that Melanie Gamboa of the University of the South is the recipient of the 9th annual Mario Vargas Llosa Award, granted yearly to one undergraduate Spanish major or minor who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in all upper-division courses completed and exemplary involvement in extra-curricular activities as related to Spanish. Ms. Gamboa will be recognized formally at the 101st Annual Conference of the AATSP in San Diego, CA, during the AATSP’s Celebration Dinner at the Town & Country Hotel at 6:30pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Congratulations to Melanie for this exceptional honor.
