Sigma Delta Pi’s Gabriela Mistral Award may be granted to an outstanding graduate or undergraduate student of Spanish who is an active member of Sigma Delta Pi and who has demonstrated noteworthy involvement and initiative in their chapter. Honorary members are not eligible, but any active chapter may nominate one active student member per year for this honor with no more than one awardee per chapter per year.
The awardee receives a beautiful certificate courtesy of Sigma Delta Pi and, while supplies last, the book De Chile al Mundo courtesy of the Gabriela Mistral Foundation (https://gabrielamistralfoundation.org/).
Any active chapter of Sigma Delta Pi with a deserving active student member should send the following to sdpnational@gmail.com:
1) a letter of nomination from the chapter adviser
2) one other letter of recommendation
3) the nominee’s current academic transcript
Decisions are communicated within one week of receipt of a complete nomination packet.
Nominations only accepted via e-mail.
Please don’t allow a deserving chapter member to be overlooked!
